ABOUT Rottweilers
Rottweilers are muscular dogs that need regular exercise and space to roam and run. Mental exercise in the form of obedience classes that may also incorporate tracking and protection skills are recommended.
Rottweilers must be thoroughly socialized at an early age so that their territorial instincts are managed.
German Rottweilers
The adult males weigh between 110 to 130 pounds, while females weigh between 77 to 110 pounds. A male German Rottweiler can grow up to 27 inches tall, while a female may get up to 25 inches tall.
Compared to American Rottweilers, German Rottweilers have broader bodies, and blocky heads.
American Rottweilers
Smaller than their German counterparts, the American Rottweiler is considered a medium-sized dog, but still strong and muscular. Their color is often black with clearly defined rust markings. Males are often larger than females, with larger frames and more robust bone structures.
